You've got questions? We've got answers!

By now you've probably noticed that there are many freelance designers who provide only a vague list of questions on their Frequently Asked Questions page. We've taken the time to include the questions that are indeed FREQUENTLY ASKED by our potential clients.
We encourage everyone to review this page before starting a logo design project so that you can gain a deeper understanding of our process and package details. If you have any questions at all, however, just shoot us a direct email for a quick reply!
Q1: Why are you called simpleLOGOstudio? Do you specialize in designing logos that are simple, or that look simple?
A1: Actually, we named our company simpleLOGOstudio because we pride ourselves in keeping the design PROCESS completely simple. Too many other designers try to wow you with complicated bells, whistles and hoops to jump through. We don't bombard you with lists of bait-and-switch packages. For only $199 out the door, we get you set up with an arsenal of logo files that you'll be able to use ANYWHERE.
Q2: "Why the heck don't you offer more packages? I only want a logo, and don't want/need a business card. I don't know if I want to spent $199 -- so how much for just the logo?"
A2: The e-letterhead and double-sided business card are actually FREE add-ons to the logo design package. We think the "discount logo" trend has created a misleading price point perception, and the illusions that you can get more for less. But if you closely compare our $199 package to those that are offered elsewhere for half the price, you will begin to see the value in our work.
ALL of OUR ARTISTS have at least seven years of professional experience AND are CURRENTLY working for notable employers as designers. The professional experience and knowledge that OUR artists bring to the table far outweighs the forty or fifty dollars that you might "save" by outsourcing to some offshore artist or one of those Bargain Basement freelancers promising the world to you "for the change in your pocket."
Q3: "Do you send me a business card design that I can use as a template for all of my employees?"
A3: Yes, the price of the simpleDESIGN does include a template file! Your simpleDESIGN package, however, includes layout for ONLY ONE (1) INDIVIDUAL'S business card. Additional associates/employees/individuals are billed at a rate of $15 per person.
Ex: You send us the information for ONE PERSON'S business card. We will submit four layout choices for your approval, and deliver one, upload-ready file for your favorite business card printer.
If you have Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or CorelDraw you can lay out the business cards for the other four people in your office yourself FOR FREE. OR we can layout those four associate cards FOR you at a cost of $60 (4 associates x $15 each).
Group discount rates are available for orders of more than 8 people are also available.
Q4: What happens if we finish the business card project and I change my phone number?
A4: Each client gets ONE free update to their business card after closing their project. After that the cost will be $25/per update.
Q5: "What about after we finish? If we want to do more things with our logo and want to hire simpleLOGOstudio.com -- is it going to cost us another 199 bucks?!"
A5: Not usually! Sometimes people want to make small variations of their logo or a simple design using their pre-existing logo for something like invitations or a web-banner. A design project like this may cost you only $40 or $50 out the door!
Q6: "Another designer did a concept for me, can you replicate it with changes?"
A6: We WILL NOT take concept images from other artists and replicate them, as this can/could constitute copyright infringement. This has happened numerous times to US, and the results are usually sticky and cumbersome.
Q7: "I'm really picky. What if I don't like the logo concepts? Do I still have to pay for it, or do I get a full refund?"
A7: We do not offer refunds on design deposits. We work closely with you as we develop six concepts based on your direction and set of preferences. If we are unable to translate your specific directions into a design that suits your tastes, you are not obligated to pay the final $99 balance on the project. Should you dislike all six concepts, we will create an additional four concepts before releasing obligation to the project. Your $100 design deposit is used to pay the artist(s) for their time in the development of your logo -- because at the end of the day, my artists have to EAT in order to create and revise logos! Please note that we take all precautions to make sure that our clients are delivered exactly what they want! Our client satisfaction rating is at over 98%!!
Q8: "Are you a freelancer or are you a big company?"
A8: We're a tiny company that has made a big splash! We use a pretty cool "co-op-inspired" system at the simpleLOGOstudio: The Creative Director manages ten clients per week and assigns them to one of our associate artists. Our team of seven artists were hand-picked from a national pool of over 100 applicants.
The artists act as expediters with Frank D as the "master chef." Some artists are great illustrators, while others may specialize in religious/church themes, "green" companies or logos with a crisp "corporate" feel. The artists split weekly clientload in a seven day Monday-to-Monday cycle, along with the advertising costs.
The design industry can be completely cut-throat, and our team has a great advantage in that everyone simply keeps a positive attitude. It's simple: When the artists are happy, the clients are happy.
Q9: What is a "concept?"
A9: A concept is ONE logo design idea. If your simpleQUESTIONNAIRE™ informs us that you like "blocky fonts and bright colors" you will recieve SIX different ideas featuring five different "blocky" fonts and five variations of bright colors. One will have a more conservative/corporate look. Another will be edgy. A third will be more abstract....and so on. These aren't six versions of the same logo -- six concepts are six individual ideas.
Q10: What is a revision?
A10: Changes to color themes, fonts, verbiage, size, or basic layout are considered a revisions. Once we have emailed you the five concepts, we will collaborate with you to identify the ones that you like best, as well as the changes that need to be made in order to attain your desired outcome. Your simpleDESIGN™ package includes FOUR revisions -- meaning that after you advise us what to change in the concepts, our artists will make four individual revisions per your specifications. Make sure to include ALL of your changes into ONE SINGLE EMAIL. Once a revision has been requested and confirmed by us, additional information submitted is held until the next revision round. Additional revisions beyond the four included are billed out at a rate of $25 per revision, per project.
Q11: "What happens if I want to change my logo completely halfway through the process? What if I decide that I want to go in a whole other direction?"
A11: To go "in a whole other direction" would logically involve creating a new set of concepts, as opposed to making a simple REVISION. This happens quite often, and we don't want to punish you for having a "light bulb moment" -- so a NEW set of THREE CONCEPTS can be purchased for just $75. This includes ONE REVISION, plus any revisions left over from the first set you let go.
Example scenario: We submit five concepts to you. You make revisions and then decide with your business partner that your original idea was all wrong. So, you just make a $75 "New Concepts" payment, and get three fresh NEW logo concepts to your NEW specs!
Once you get these concepts, ONE revision is included -- but you still have THREE left over from the simpleDESIGN™ package! FOUR REVISIONS TOTAL!
Q12: Can I just send my e-Letterhead to the same people that print my business cards?
A12: e-Letterhead is a digital file that is intended to replace your printed letterhead and reduce waste. Since the percentage of items sent on company letterhead are typically meant for one-time viewing, we give you the option of sending a standard Microsoft Word document with your logo and business information embedded! It looks sharp, and your clients will appreciate your step toward promoting a sustainable world.
Q13: How do I get my logos? Do you mail them out to me?
A13: Once you have given us the thumbs-up on your final revision, we email you a ZIP folder containing three subfolders:
* VECTOR FILES: AI, EPS, CDR, PDF
* JPG FILES: Small - Large
* PSD FILES: with TRANSPARENT BACKGROUND
Download this folder as you would any photo or attachment that someone would send you in an email. We recently LOST nearly 40 GIGS of logos after the an external hard drive crashed -- MAKE BACKUP COPIES PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!
You'll LOVE us for reminding you, if (or should we say, when) the UNTHINKABLE happens.
Q13: I was looking at your design menu and wanted to order a double-sided flyer -- but I see that the price of this and other items varies? Why don't you just list one price -- a flyer is a flyer, right?
A13: We get many requests for many variations on double-sided flyers, door hangers, and other promotional materials featured on our design menu. The truth of the matter is that some clients will want to feature photos that have been custom-edited, require more revisions than the one included, or simply have complex needs in terms of what is expected from their design. On the other hand, some clients want their logo at the top, with three or four lines of text at the bottom on a flyer with two identical sides. Since this second client would require much less design and layout time, we don't charge them the same amount as the first. To be sure, all of this is discussed with you prior to starting the project and we will never go beyond that estimated cost without first consulting you.
